How Cool

People can sign up to be emailed when I do a post. How very very cool. So I’m testing it by putting Sarah’s new tune up.

Yay Yay Yay.

concerts, gigs, it’s all go

So many things going on at the moment. 2 student concerts at MAC in less than 3 weeks. Then about 20 students doing exams within the next 4 weeks and then it’s all about my stuff.

Yes, I will be performing again. I am putting together a new cabaret show for the Moseley Festival and Artsfest. Very exciting. Will be about new motherhood and some of the joys (and not such joys) that it entails.

Also going to start performing my original songs again.

And… I start rehearsals for Sondheim’s Compay at the Crescent Theatre on 6th June. Very exciting.

Now I have to find a way to describe the cabaret show in 25 words that makes it sound interesting without sounding daft. Hmmmm.

and did I mention planning Matt and I’s wedding in 6 months. It can be done (if only choir would be nice and learn the songs I want them to sing at the cermony and not quibble if they like them).

Next Concert

I’m putting on another student concert. It will be on 19 June 2010 at the Hexagon Theatre at MAC. It’s particularly exciting as MAC has been closed for refurbishment for about 2 years and, having seen inside, I can report it’s gorgeous. It doesn’t even open till May 1st so this does feel very special.

Motherhood

Motherhood is proving pleasurable but very time consuming.  Things are slow on the teaching and performing but watch this space and when I get time I will be putting on a singers session and teaching again.

Also I am looking forward to hearing my choir sing my arrangements in December.

Sharing session for singers

I have an idea in the fruition of putting on monthly sessions where singers can come along and sing a song for each other.  I will be finding a venue soon but at the moment I want it to be in a room in a pub or somewhere minors can attend.  I think ideally it would be a church but the best time to do it is Sunday 4 – 6 or 5 – 7 so a church is out. I’m thinking of doing it on 14 June but nothing is set in stone yet.

I like the idea that people can turn up with simple guitar chords or a backing track and get to perform.  I know it would be good for lots of my students so I am sure there are other folks out there that would benefit from it too.

Let me know if you have any ideas of where to do it.
