Your Best Year Yet | A Gentle End-of-Year Reflection

A little gift from me to you.

Every year, at least once, I do what I call my “Best Year Yet” plan.

your best year yet by Jenny Ditzler

It’s a review process where you look forward to your next year and review the past year.   It involves assessing things like what  you’ve achieved, what you are disappointed by from the last year.  You look at  what you’ve learned, how you limit yourself, your values and what roles you play.

By the end of the process  you have a plan for the next year that looks something like this

Where I first learned about Best Year Yet

I first learned about this process from a lovely friend who I worked with when I had just left uni.

I met Yazmin when we both worked for a company who organised kids’ parties in London.  (My favourite of these parties was doing one for one of the owner, Jonathon Ross, because they gave us loads of cake for the tube journey home and I really got on well with his mum).  Yazmin was so lovely.  She put me up on her coach in London so many times.  I wonder what she’s doing now.

She also inspired one of my favourite older songs  “Ruby In the Dust”  I didn’t write the date in my song book but I think it was around 2002. I’ve been bold and shared it but you need to check out my music youtube page to see it.

It’s surprisingly high and my voice was not very malleable this  morning.  I am living by the motto of better done than perfect.  And I do like this song.

She also shared this book with me and I remember copying out the questions and I’ve done the process every year since then.

I’m not wild enough to share my plan for my best year yet for next year here, (and it’s not quite finished yet),  but I will share that it involves a mix of work, music and social stuff.  I’m also pretty happy to be able to write “continue going to the gym”.  I’ve never had that on there before!

It’s a bit like a little ceremony for me.

Do you have ways you mark the end of the year or the end of something else?
